Highly likely Pete. Ideally, sit on your hands as the ladybugs and parasitic wasps will take care of the aphid population.

My broad beans were overtaken by aphids. I tried a pyrethrum spray but the aphids won. All the stalks and leaves were totally covered. Any thoughts?

We would like to plant garlic for next summer. We live in the Seattle area.....so we are going to be headed into a lot of rainy weather for the next few months. When should we plant my cloves to get big multi clove bulbs and when would we harvest them? We plan on using large containers....should they be moved into a place with a little weather protection during the heaviest rain? We planted in February last year and got tiny tiny bulbs..... The same question for leeks if you know about those too..... Thanks very much! Annemarie

Would`nt even bother to grow these Again .. grew in trays .. Put some in pots ( Big fail, due to the very large root system) some in the garden very healthy.. takes up a lot of room, takes way to long to grow in a small garden.. all it did was keep the slugs happy , shaded out, every other growing vegetables.. Lost my patience.. and ripped them all out..6 months from seed to harvest is too long. cheaper just to buy in the store in season

A couple of points. Plant tall plants in the southern end of your garden (then they don't shade other plants). The sun crosses approx over head E to W in the summer and in the north in winter NE to NW.

Can you use a full-spectrum grow lamp for rosemary inside for the winter instead of direct sun?

Yes you sure can. I grow my rosemary in containers and bring them in during the winter. They do great under a full spectrum or just my cheap T4 fluorescent light and I even get quite a bit of growth on them during their time indoors.

They may not, as my sheep and goats do not. It must be the furry texture of te leaves or smell. Good luck, from Tasmania

Hi Caroline, I found that if I planted Catmint as a border, the deer wouldnt cross it. So saved my garden and had beautiful blue flowers

Compare your climate to a New Zealand or Australian climate and then check the planting guide here for that climate. You would be tropic probably.

It says plant April May - the reason, your are growing into the coolest time of the year and less likely to have massive rainfall then. Also pit them in a raised bed if your ground can be wet a lot. Free draining soil.

Why are my dwarf beans leaves yellowing? They’re planted with cherry toms and spring onions so it gets lots of water so I’m thinking it is that. Am I able to transplant them into pots? They’ve got flowers but no beans as yet.

I just googled it - overwatering. Tomatoes need a good deep watering 2-3 times a week. Give a light fertilising and cut the watering back to 3 times a week.

I don't think it's perennial anywhere but if left to go to seed it will self-sow and regrow so long as the seed doesn't freeze.

No, it's an annual plant regardless of zone. It will often reseed itself in good weather conditions though (not too hot, not too cold, moderate water).
